CBS will broadcast a two hour special on March 10, 2002 with video footage of the brave firemen and
policemen at the WTC before tower two collapsed. This footage has never been seen by the public. Many
firemen and others in city service have seen the video. The owners of the video were taping firemen in
training when the first tower was hit. I am sure you have seen it on the news on every news station. It shows
the first hijacked airplane being flown into the first tower. A very dramatic shot and shocking to both them
and us.
I have been debating whether to watch this broadcast. I still find it difficult to look at the footage that has
been shown before on news stations. I hear this new footage is a tribute to all the brave men and women
who died on September 11, 2001. They showed true professionalism, valor, and great courage. We
cannot forget this day lest it be repeated.
I will be watching the broadcast on March 10.

The families of the victims have protested the airing of the documentary showing victims and those who
were trying to help them. CBS is still going to air the program on March 10, 2002; the eve of the
anniversary of the tragic events.

On March 11 there will be streams of light coming from a vacant parking lot near Ground Zero, WTC. It is
a tribute to the fallen and approved by their families. It is called TRIBUTE OF LIGHT. The lights will
shine from March 11, 2002 until April 13, 2002.

The remains of two policemen were found at Ground Zero today. They were recovered and treated with
much dignity and respect and draped in the American Flag. One of the policemen was signing his
retirement papers on the morning of September 11, 2001. He went to the WTC to help and lost his life.

I watched the documentary on CBS last night. I found it to be very well done by two very caring
professional photographers . They lived through that day and felt the terror first hand. It was a tribute to all
three hundred forty three firemen who died on September 11, 2001.
The two blue streams of light spread up to the heavens this evening. I found them to be very beautiful
and very peaceful.

The excavation goes on at the WTC Ground Zero site. There have been thirty one bodies found over the
past week. They were found around the first tower to fall, the second to be hit, the South Tower. All of
these persons, male, female, police officers, firemen, and injured persons had no time to get away before the
tower collapsed. The only female police officer was one of the victims removed from the site this week.
She was in a nearby building when she heard about the attack and went to help.
The total of missing and dead at Ground Zero remains at 2, 830. 173 firemen have been found and
identified. They lost 343 on September 11, 2001.

The blue lights symbolizing the WTC's went out for good at 11:00 p.m. last night. The residents of New
York City said they were inspiring, uplifting, beautiful, and would be missed. A permanent memorial is in
the planning stages. It is believed the area will be completely cleared of debris from the fallen towers and
surrounding buildings a bit earlier than previously expected. It will be finished as early as May, or so they
think now.
If you did not get to see what the Towers of Light looked like, visit this photographers pictures of them.

The count of missing and dead is now 2,824. Remains were found as late as week before last when two
civilian's remains were located.
The victim's families of the fatal flight 93 that crashed in Pennsylvania are going to be allowed to hear the
data from the flight recorder (black box) on Thursday. I hope it brings them nearer closure and peace.
April 24, 2002
A memorial service was held today for the Port Authority police dog "Sirius". The Golden Retriever
was left in her kennel on 9-11 while her human partner went to help victims of the terrorists attack. She was
the only police dog killed in the line of duty.

The workers at the WTC site have reached solid bed rock and will soon be finished with the clean up and
recovery. They are still finding some human remains and personal items such as wedding rings. They have
worked long hours for almost eight months. They have been so busy and focused on the job at hand many
of them have not yet begun to grieve for their friends and coworkers. About a thousand missing persons
have been identified by DNA but the majority of the people who perished September 11, 2001 will be gone
without a trace. The sheer force of the impact of the airplanes and the fire afterwards obliterated many on
the floors where the planes hit and those above those floors had no way to escape. Some chose to jump to
their death instead of being burned alive. What would you or I do in a situation such as they were in? I have
thought about this and still come to no conclusion.
There are still buildings that were around the sixteen block area of the trade center that will have to be
repaired before they can be used again. No definite memorial has been chosen. It is sure there will be office
buildings but many people want a large area devoted to all who lost their lives there. It is considered a
burial site for many and should be treated as such. That is understandable. They need a place to go and
remember their loved ones since there are no remains to bury.
Memorial day will be May 26th and we all will be remembering those lost in wars and conflicts. Never did
we expect to lose so many Americans in our own country; especially due to acts of hatred and terrorism.
May 20, 2002
The last day for the clean up at the WTC will be May 30, 2002. The operation will take less than nine
months to finish and cost a great deal less than expected. There will be a service at the site led by the
current mayor of New York City on May 30. No decision on a memorial object or definite plans
concerning the sites use in the future have been made thus far.
May 29, 2002
The last remaining steel beam that was still standing was removed today and placed on a flatbed truck to be
removed during the ceremony on May 30, 2002.
May 30, 2002
The firehouse bell tolled twenty times in memory of all who died at the WTC . Bagpipes pealed Taps
and America The Beautiful. Tears were streaming down faces and people stood silently while the stretcher
symbolizing all who were not recovered was carried up the five hundred foot ramp to a waiting ambulance.
The truck carrying the last steel beam from one of the buildings was covered with a black cloth and the
American flag. It was adorned with one large wreath. The ceremony marked the official end of the search
for remains at the WTC site though it will continue at the land fill on Staten Island where many tons of steel
and other debris were taken. The official death toll at the WTC's is 2,823.
May 31, 2002
The former mayor of New York City gave a graduation speech at a high school in Pennsylvania near the site
where Flight 93 went down on September 11, 2001. He commended the courage and valor of all who
were on that plane and all those who gave their lives for us.
