        Candle's Flickering in the Wind

As I watch the wind blow through the trees on this cloudy day in winter

I think of how fast life can change from one day to the other

We think nothing ever changes but in each persons life there is

definite change

Days can  seem to take forever to end, as on September 11, 2001

As day turned into night and hid the gashing scar of sixteen blocks - now gone

People were still standing and staring in disbelief

The hands of time keep moving but for many  stood still

Mind and body in shock, tears rolling down faces, candles lit in prayer,

hope for loved ones still strong, they  waited - night and day,

pacing and taking pictures of missing loved ones to tack on bulletin

boards across the city

Have you seen my son, have you seen my daughter, have you seen

my husband, have you seen my wife, have you seen my father, have you

seen my mother, have you seen my sister, have you seen my brother?

Day after day they waited, night after night the candles glowed, their flames

Flickering in the wind
