there are many things you need to be aware of.

the days of poring over a manuscript for months, maybe years, and
just send it into a publisher. Most do not accept unsolicited
manuscripts now. A writer must have an agent to even get one little
toe in the publishers door. It may be at a publishers months before
you hear anything and then it may go through a series of editors to
get to the right person for the actual publishing. If your book is
chosen there will be weeks and maybe months before they think the
book is ready for publication. You will most certainly be asked for
