The remains of Daniel Pearl, the journalist for the WSJ, were flown into LAX on August 08, 2002. The family
had a private service for him. May he rest in peace.
August 12, 2002
Sgt. 1st Class Christopher J. Speer, 28, Albuquerque, N.M. died of his wounds he acquired while on patrol in
Afghanistan.

October 08, 2002
A Marine was shot and killed today off the coast of Kuwait. When his name is revealed I will place it on this page.
Another Marine was shot in the arm and is alright. It is considered a terrorist attack. The two Kuwaiti gunmen
were shot and killed.
October 11, 2002
Marines will gather at Camp Horno, Camp Pendleton, Calif., Oct. 11 for a memorial ceremony for the Marine,
Lance Cpl. Antonio Sledd, killed on Faylaka Island in Kuwait earlier this week.

December 23, 2002
Sgt. Steven Checo, 22, of the 82nd Airborne Division was killed early Saturday morning, December 21, 2002 in
the Eastern province of Paktika, Afghanistan. Sgt. Checo was from Elizabeth, NJ. No details as of yet about his
return to the US.
